Mafia movies are so cool , either American gangsters or Italian , each has their own beauty and these films explore how the gangsters were made , what made them they do mafiosa things ,theft , carjacking to high violence . I think best actor in this genre would be Al Pacino .

1.The Godfather

Don Vito Corleone, head of a mafia family, decides to hand over his empire to his youngest son, Michael , but he doesn't know that this decision could put his family in danger . Godfather is cool , it has some greatest quotes of all time , it expresses Italian culture , and actors were amazing in the film , also there is like a sense of thrill hanging in the movie.

2.Scarface

Cast - Al Pacino , Michelle Pfeiffer.

Tony Montana and his close friend Manny, build a strong drug empire in Miami. However as his power begins to grow, so does his ego and his enemies, and his own paranoia begins to plague his empire . Scarface was great , even the dialogues by Tony Montana were badass , you should check this scene when Montana talks with police , Al Pacino did it just perfect .

John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd are gangsters who have terrorised the city. Federal agents try their best to nab them. And nabbing them ain't easy boy . Johnny Depp played John and he was fantastic , it had theft , action , cool showmanship of Dillinger .

4. The Usual Suspects

Cast - Benicio del Toro , Stephen Baldwin , Gabriel Byrne .

A con man is interrogated by the police after surviving a deadly shoot-out. When questioned about the incident, he reveals a story about five criminals led by a notorious mastermind named Keyser Soze. It had suspense , it was like a great flashback movie , from the beginning to the end , from the present to past , it had all the gangsta stuff you ever wished for and it was fun to watch.

5.GoodFellas

Director - Martin Scorsese

Cast - Ray Liotta , Robert De Niro , Joe Pesci

Henry grows up idolising mobsters in his impoverished neighbourhood. Things take a turn for the worse when he along with his friends Jimmy and Tommy decide to make their way up the mob hierarchy. I was like how the hell can i forget goodfellas ! And believe me these guys were operating from the inside but it was like they own the world , heavy tips to doorman and bartenders , great action even some hot scenes and finally the end.

6.Pulp Fiction

Director - Quentin Tarantino

Cast - Samuel Jackson, John Travolta , Uma Thurman .

Two mobsters get entangled in a serious situation , the job which they were paid for . Quentin Tarantino was so artistic and so devilish to direct this , this movie had great creative scenes which expressed so much . Not only it is the coolest gangsta movie but also it had bits of romantic , funny scenes . I have never seen better directing than Quentin.

7.Once upon a time in America

Director - Sergio Leone

Cast - Robert De Niro , Elizabeth McGovern , James Woods .

Noodles , who was a gangster during Prohibition time , returns to New York and makes his amends , to confront his past . It was beautiful , it was sad , it was neither good nor bad . There were some amazing shots in the movie which will stay in the hearts of audience forever like the ballet dance , Noodles peeping on Deborah . A slow movie but beautiful sad plot.

8.A Bronx Tale

Cast - Robert De Niro , Chazz Palminteri

Calogero, a teenager from the Bronx, befriends Sonny, a local mobster who initiates him into the gangster ways. His life takes a turn for the worse when he falls in love with his classmate Jane. The movie had things like quotes by Machiavelli , it also dealt with moral and racist themes . It had cool crime scenes , also the feeling when you lose some beloved one .

9.Eastern Promises

Director - David Cronenberg.

Cast - Viggo Mortensen , Naomi Watts .

Tatiana, a pregnant Russian teenager, dies during childbirth at a London hospital. Tatiana's Russian descendant midwife Anna takes it upon herself to find Tatiana's family and deliver them the baby. It had like a little bit short mystery and then action , Nikolai the tattoed guy from the movie , his action scenes were so cool .

10.The Departed

Director - Martin Scorsese.

Cast - Leonardo Di Caprio

An undercover agent and a spy constantly try to counter-attack each other in order to save themselves from being exposed in front of the authorities. Meanwhile, both try to infiltrate an Irish gang. It is a remake of Hong Kong film ,Internal affairs , i have watched this movie twice and I'm still confused ,later I'm gonna watch original .
